Sagal Hashi is a Research Assistant with the Fund for Peace. She is a recent graduate from St. John’s University, with a BA in Government and Politics and a minor in French. Before joining the FFP, Sagal was an intern for the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region- Regional Training Facility in Kampala, Uganda. As an intern with RTF, Sagal helped organize workshops to train Uganda People’s Defense Force and military officials and judges from South Sudan, Sudan, and the Central African Republic on mitigating sexual violence in post-conflict zones. She also worked as an interpreter for military officers and delegates from CAR. In her third year of university, she was an Emerging Conflicts Regional Specialist for STAND, where she conducted research on high-conflict regions and wrote weekly blog posts, news briefs, and articles on political violence in the Central African Republic, Nigeria, and Mozambique. Sagal primarily contributes to the FFP’s Conflict Early Warning programs and looks forward to gaining firsthand experience working with experts in the fields of International Development and Conflict Prevention.
